Opportunities for Students
Achievement in Music--AIM
SSMTA administers the Illinois Achievement in Music exam to students as an assessment tool and recognition program. Achievement in Music (AIM) is a comprehensive musicianship program which covers sight reading, transposing, harmonizing, listening skills, theory knowledge, technique and repertoire performance. Exams are given at Thorn Creek Reformed Church, 1875 E. 170th Street, South Holland, Illinois on the following schedule:
February 11, 2023
Theory exam for levels 3-12
April 22, 2023
Performance exam for levels 3-12
Complete exam for levels 1 and 2
AIM fees are $20 for each level. The fee includes both the Theory and Performance portions of the exam.
Student Recitals
SSMTA sponsors two recitals each year, featuring students of current member teachers. These recitals offer wonderful opportunities to share music with a broader musical community.
Student recitals take place at Oak Glen United Reformed Church, 2244 Indiana Avenue, Lansing, Illinois.
